Located in the sun-drenched, picturesque, coastal gem of the Apulia region (or
Puglia, as it is known to the locals), Bari is the capital city of this land in
Southern Italy. Bari, has a very rich history, manifested also in its
architecture, During Roman times it developed strategic significance as the
point of junction between the coast road and the Via Traiana and as a port for
eastward trade. In Middle Ages was ruled Longobards, Normans, Byzantines and
for a short period of  20 years, Bari was the centre of the Emirate of Bari;
the city was sacked and razed to the ground, and the fortress of Baris
destroyed several times and then it recovered. Included in the Kingdom of
Naples, in the 1800s the city was under the rule of Napoleon's brother-in-law,
Joachim Murat, who, as King of Naples, built a new section of the city, now
bearing the name of the Borgo Murattiano, which is a great place to spend time,
with a major shopping district and gorgeous architectures built in the 19th and
early 20th centuries. Bari and the Puglia overall can boast some of the best
Italy's food and wines, and a genuine authentic, simple and tasty vernacular
cuisine.

We look forward to welcoming you in Bari!
