In conjunction with the 14th IAPR International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR 2017), the L3i (Univ. La Rochelle) and the CVC (UAB) would like to invite you to participate in our new challenge. The official website is http://smartdoc.univ-lr.fr/ <http://smartdoc.univ-lr.fr/>. The new SmartDoc edition focuses on video-captured document images by mobiles. It targets large documents and reflective documents. The capture in video mode provides extra information that can be used to reconstruct a high quality image and prevent defects such as out-of-focus blur and spotlights (which usually make isolated pictures useless). The SmartDoc competition will be held from May 29th to June 2nd. Participants can check out available training material and start preparing their methods from now. The deadline for registration of interest is May 26th. A sample dataset is already available, and more tools (evaluation, example method) will be released very soon. Participants do not need to submit their binaries nor their source code.
