Hello,

My name is Timnit Gebru and I am a PhD student at Stanford University
studying computer vision. I am one of the co-organizers of WiCV (Women in
Computer Vision Workshop: https://wicvworkshop.github.io/) co-located with
CVPR on July 26 in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am asking for your help spreading
the word to anyone who might be interested. We encourage everyone who
identifies as female and does research in computer vision to submit
abstracts (details below). We provide travel grants to participants with
accepted abstracts (grant amounts depend on the distance traveled).

Thanks!
Timnit

CVPR 2017 Women in Computer Vision Workshop: Call for Participation

July 26, 2017
A half-day workshop co-located with CVPR 2017 in Honolulu, Hawaii
https://wicvworkshop.github.io/

*OVERVIEW*

Computer vision has made tremendous progress in recent years over a wide
range of areas, and has also become one of the largest computer science
research communities. However, despite the expansion of our field, the
percentage of female faculty members and researchers both in academia and
in industry is still relatively low. As a result, most female researchers
working in computer vision feel isolated and do not have a lot of
opportunities to meet with other women. The half-day workshop on Women in
Computer Vision is a gathering for both women and men working in computer
vision.

The goals of this workshop are to:
-- Raise visibility of women in computer vision by presenting invited
research talks by women who are role models in this field.
-- Give opportunities to junior female students or researchers to present
their work via poster/oral sessions and travel awards.
-- Share experience and career advice for female students and professionals.

*ELIGIBILITY*

All (male and female) undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and
faculty who are interested in or working in any area of computer vision are
encouraged to attend. Travel grants are available for "female" presenters
who are students (undergraduate or graduate), post-docs, and junior
industry researchers. Last year attendees are also welcome to apply to
present their work.

*SUBMISSION*

We encourage female students, post-docs, and junior researchers to submit
an application through the WiCV CMT site: https://cmt3.research.mi
crosoft.com/WICV2017

The application should include an abstract of 2 pages or less, using the
final CVPR paper template. This abstract should describe either new or
previously published research, including research presented at CVPR 2017.
The reviewing process in not double-blind.

Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to present their work as a
poster. A few abstracts will be selected for oral presentation.

*IMPORTANT DATES*

Abstract submission deadline: April 21, 2017
Notification of abstract acceptance: May 8, 2017
Workshop: July 26, 2017
