FOUR RESEARCH POSITIONS AVAILABLE

The Robot Vision Team (RoViT) at Kingston University is a partner of a large
(EUR15m) H2020 consortium, acronym MONICA. RoViT will be responsible for the
video analytics aspects of the project.

At present we can advertise only the attached PhD position, however there will
be three additional postdoctoral positions, two for 36 months and one for 26
months.

The project will commence in January 2017. If you are currently searching for a
postdoctoral position and have experience in video analytics from fixed, worn
and flown cameras, please contact us.

PhD in Crowd Analytics from fixed and moving cameras

3-year full-time PhD

Eligibility: minimum Upper Second Honours degree in Computing or Mathematics

Expected start date:

Interview date:

This PhD opportunity is to study, explore and develop innovative methods in the
field of video analytics via the automatic interpretation of complex
surveillance/monitoring scenes captured with fixed, mobile (worn) and flying
cameras (security drones). The programme of study will concentrate on
scientific and technical exploration of the problem, and it will be linked to a
very large H2020 project, acronym MONICA, where the Robot Vision Team is
engaged in providing expert and intelligent solutions to the monitoring of a
large and very busy area (concert event or stadium match, for instance). The
successful candidate will be required to contribute to the project with
algorithms in computer vision, machine, manifold and deep learning, for the
automatic interpretation of dynamics, behaviour and interaction of people.

The candidate must have a very strong background in computer science,
mathematics and statistics, and must be capable of programming in a variety of
programming languages. He or she needs to have obtained a First or Upper Second
Class degree with excellent grades in all subjects studied. Previous experience
in image and/or video processing is preferred, although not strictly necessary.
