Expedia has an exciting and challenging opening for a data scientist / machine learning practitioner. We are looking for someone with advanced training in computer science, machine learning or an equivalent field whose skills span the complete project cycle, from data wrangling, to modeling to feature implementation and monitoring. Areas where we do advanced work include: * Recommender systems * Time series analysis * Auctions * Incentive systems and feedback loops * Purchase propensity Your focus will be developing state of the art algorithms that power both our consumer facing and supplier facing websites. Key problems that we address include consumer travel search and supplier pricing recommendations. This is an applied research position, so while you will be given the flexibility to pursue new and interesting ideas, the main focus will be developing production algorithms supporting features of the website. Applicants who have competed in one of our Kaggle competitions will be given special consideration.
