Rutgers University-Newark The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Rutgers University-Newark is soliciting applications for an anticipated opening at the level of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor to start fall semester 2016. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and show a strong record of research accomplishments in pure or applied mathematics, and have a concern for teaching.
The normal annual teaching load for research-active faculty is 2-1, that is two courses for one semester, plus one course for the other semester. Applicants from all fields are welcome. Priority will be given to applicants whose research is in one of the areas of mathematical research of interest to current faculty in the Department. These include: representation theory, number theory and algebra; low-dimensional topology, geometric group theory, Kleinian groups and Teichmuller theory; and geometric analysis, geometry. Applicants with the potential to bridge issues in pure and applied Mathematics and Machine learning or Data science are of special interest.
