The Department of Cognitive and Neural Systems (CNS) offers
comprehensive graduate training in the neural and computational
principles, mechanisms, and architectures that underlie human and
animal behavior, as well as the application of neural network
architectures to technological problems. CNS offers 17 distinct
graduate courses and other training leading to PhD and MA degrees.

Applications for admission and financial aid should be received in the
Graduate School Admissions Office by December 15, 2009 but will be
given full consideration if received by no later than January 15, 2010.
Applicants are required to submit undergraduate (and, if applicable,
graduate) transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and Graduate
Record Examination (GRE) scores. GRE scores may be waived for MA
candidates and, in exceptional cases, for PhD candidates, but absence
of these scores may decrease an applicant's chances for admission and
financial aid.
All application materials must be submitted directly to the Graduate
School Admissions Office.
CNS also offers joint BA/MA programs to Boston University
undergraduates majoring in Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics &
Statistics, Psychology, and Neuroscience (new, pending final approval).
