*UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC)*
Post-doctoral Research Associate in Affect Recognition
£31,620 - £33,375 per annum starting salary, including London Allowance
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral Research Associate position
at the University College London Interaction Centre (UCLIC), working on
the recognition of affect from physiological signals, as part of the
SENSORIA project. The project aims to investigate how the sensorial
experience of products in the digital environment can be captured and
used to provide a greater personalization of the product. We aim at
providing the developer and consumers a means to articulate what is
difficult to articulate: people's sensory perceptions of the different
textiles commonly used in clothing products. The role of the postdoc
within the project will be to investigate the use of biosensors to
automatically capture consumers’ perceptual reactions (visual or
tactile) to textile. The project is interdisciplinary and involves three
other UK groups from the University of the Arts London, Imperial College
and Heriot-Watt University.
UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC: http://www.uclic.ucl.ac.uk/) is a Centre
of Excellence in Human-Computer Interaction drawing its members from
both the Computer Science Department and the Division of Psychology and
Language Sciences.
The post is funded *starting January 2010* and is of duration 18 months.
Applicants should have obtained a PhD in a relevant subject. Ideal
candidates will have a strong background in machine learning and
bio-signal analysis and possibly in theories of emotion. They will have
experience of using bio-sensors such as GSR or EMG. They should have
potential for excellent research and the capability and motivation to
collaborate within an interdisciplinary research group with people from
Design and Art disciplines and various areas within Computer Science.
