The ECML PKDD 2009 Organizing Committee invites proposals for full-day or half-day workshops to take place on the first and last days of the conference (September 7 and 11). Workshops will be part of the main conference, and are free of charge to the attendees of the conference. Informal printed workshop proceedings will be made available by ECML PKDD organizers.

Key Dates:
• Workshop proposal deadline: March 8, 2009

• Workshop acceptance notification: March 25, 2009

• Workshop websites and call for papers online: June 10, 2009

• Workshop papers notification: June 30, 2009

• Workshop proceedings camera-ready: August 15, 2009

Workshops provide an opportunity to discuss current and emerging topics in machine learning and/or data mining in a smaller, interactive atmosphere Workshops that bring together researchers and practitioners from different academic communities as well as from industry and government are especially encouraged. Each workshop should be well-focused, aim not to be a mini-conference, and encourage collaboration and discussions among the participants.

• Description of the workshop topic and the associated research issues

• Motivations why an ECML PKDDD workshop on this topic should take place

• Description of the anticipated target group(s) of attendees

• Duration of the workshop (full day or half day)

• Possible format of the workshop

• A brief description of the organizers’ experience and background in the topic and their contact information (address, email, and phone)

• A designated contact person
