SDM 2009 Student Travel Fellowships and Doctoral Student Forum Fellowships

The SIAM Conference on Data Mining (SDM 2009) is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of student travel scholarships to partially cover the registration, hotel, and travel expenses for students participating in SDM 2009 ( students who live within 30 miles of the conference venue will receive only registration expenses):

• Student authors of papers that have been accepted for oral or poster presentation at SDM 2009. • Students selected to participate in a planned SDM 2009 Doctoral Student Forum. The doctoral student forum will consist of a dedicated poster session for presenting Ph.D. dissertation research in data mining or closely related areas. Ph.D. candidates and Ph.D. students who have made substantial progress towards Ph.D. candidacy will be given preference in the selection process for the doctoral student forum. Special consideration will be given to attendees who are women or members of minority groups that are currently under-represented in the data mining research community.

Completed applications must be received by February 15, 2009 to ensure full consideration. Selected applicants will be notified by March 21, 2009.

In addition to the student travel fellowships and doctoral student forum fellowships offered by SDM 2009, a small number of additional doctoral and postdoctoral student fellowships available to SDM 2009 participants.
