POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN STATISTICAL LEARNING AT UC IRVINE A full-time postdoctoral scholar position is currently open in Professor Padhraic Smyth's group at UC Irvine. The position is in the area of statistical machine learning with applications to climate science, including development of algorithms for tracking of storms and cloud formations from satellite data as well as modeling of spatio-temporal rainfall data. The position will involve collaborative research with graduate students and faculty in the Department of Computer Science, as well as collaborations with faculty and researchers in the Earth Systems Science and Statistics Departments at UC Irvine.
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely-related discipline, with an emphasis on machine learning or applied statistics. The salary range for this position will be between $42,456 and $58,224 annually, commensurate with training and experience. The initial appointment will be for a twelve-month period with extensions for further years dependent in part on the availability of extra-mural funding.
