PGM'06
Call For Papers

Prague, Czech Republic
September 12-15, 2006

************************************************************************

The aim of the workshop is to bring together people interested in
probabilistic graphical models and provide a forum for discussion
of the latest research developments in this field. The expected
number of oral presentations is 30.

Workshop Details:
*******************

The European Workshop on Probabilistic Graphical Models (PGM) is a
biennial workshop. The first PGM workshop was organized in Cuenca,
Spain in 2002. The second PGM workshop took place in Leiden, the
Netherlands in 2004. The third PGM workshop will be organized in
Prague, the Czech Republic in September 12-15, 2006.

Theoretical and applied contributions related to the
following topics are welcome:

- Principles of Bayesian (belief) networks, chain graphs,
decision networks, influence diagrams and other graphical models.
- Information processing in PGMs: exact and approximate inference and
  knowledge propagation algorithms, junction trees.
- Learning and data mining in the context of PGMs: machine learning
approaches, statistical testing and search methods, MCMC simulation.
- Exploitation of results from related disciplines for the construction
of PGMs, e.g. statistics, information theory, optimisation, decision
making under uncertainty, multivariate statistical analysis.
- Modelling and evaluation of PGMs; probabilistic expert systems.
- Theoretical foundations for PGMs: conditional independence, advanced
  graphical models, hidden variables.
- Software systems based on PGMs.
- Application of PGMs to real-world problems; classification.
- Any other aspects related to PGMs.

Paper Submission:
*****************

We encourage submissions that concern any of the above topics.
Papers submitted for a review should report on original, previously
unpublished work. PGM'06 requires electronic submission of abstracts and
papers according to the instructions that will be posted up at the
workshop home page. Authors will be required to submit a title and a
short abstract a week before the paper submission deadline and prepare
their papers in concordance with the PGM proceedings format. The page
limit will be 8 pages, including figures and the bibliography.
The PGM'06 home page will contain format information and provide the
access to style files and templates. The submitted papers will be reviewed
and the accepted papers will be included in the proceedings available
during the workshop.
