the export list has a rev associated with it. see XF_VERSION in include/exports.h. u-boot will detect the mismatch at runtime and bail forcing people to rebuild their stand alone apps. we've done this in the past (6 times even!) and no one has complained (at least with any visibility on the mailing list). i dont have a problem with it. -mike
