I will comment on the individual patches, but I prefer we keep the existing defconfig names that we have been using for a long time. For example: To build non SPL target for mx6qsabresd: make mx6qsabresd_defconfig does not work anymore. After your series is applied we need to do: make imx6q_sabresd_defconfig which will confuse users.
