Don Mischer, the veteran producer and director who specialized in events like the Emmys, Oscars, the Super Bowl halftime show and Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, won 15 Emmys over his career and had announced his retirement after doing the Breakthrough Prize telecast last week--Friday at home in LA:
