There are various issues being tied together in this story and there are
various approaches. Whether Ellen is nice or not is celebrity gossip. The
sexual nature of the harassment allegations is somewhat lurid and can get
tabloid style coverage. Speculation about Ellen getting the boot imminently
and speculating on a replacement is also tabloid. The allegations of a
toxic workplace environment are straight news and should be the center of
the story which is what Buzzfeed has done.

When the story broke I wondered if an internal investigation by Warner
Media was really going to try to assess the situation or if it was going to
cover up any wrongdoing to keep the show running. If the latter then an
external investigation should be demanded. The way the story is developing
it seems that Warner isn't trying to make the story go away and nobody from
the show (or their attorney) is yelling that the allegations are baseless
and the matter needs to be dropped.

Seventeen years is a hell of a run for a talk show host. After Carson and
Letterman we have somehow decided that 30 years is the minimum standard but
that is a real outlier. Ellen isn't entitled to a 30 year run as talk show
host and letting her step aside or asking her to step aside doesn't erase
her accomplishment.
