How is real news doing? The PBS News Hour ratings inched above a million a night in 2016 and PBS gave itself a laudatory press release. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/pressrelease/pbs-newshour-sets-record-growth-in-q1-2016/ In 2013, they were 1.3 million a night, down from 2.5 million a night in 2005. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/tv/z-on-tv-blog/bal-pbs-newshour-huge-audience-loss-20131018-story.html Al Jazeera's cable network was a third of that, although it was handicapped with the al Jazeera name. This is not a positive trend. I'm not saying Megyn Kelly is the second coming of Cronkhite or Murrow, but she did push back against some of the worst excesses at FOX News. Maybe she can carve out something at NBC.
