Selfishly Tom, I am grateful that you saved your contribution until you could kill it on this subject, since it is a big help to me - thanks. I have seen and greatly enjoyed The Fall, though now notice there are actually two more seasons available on Netflix than I have not seen. I would be happy to re-watch season 1 and then the next 2. I will check out the first three you mention, and maybe Hinterland.
I find the close captioning is almost a necessity with these British shows - especially when they are from Wales or Scotland. If you have been paying attention at all while lurking, you know that knowing what you are talking about is not really a prerequisite for posting on this list for some of us.
