I thought Chappelle's monologue was hilarious - one of the funniest I have seen on SNL in many years. The only non-comic part was the last 15" or so, and I thought it was appropriate, given the protests occurring very near the studio as he performed, and which he referenced.
McKinnon cold open was not funny at all, but I thought SNL earned that by all of the humor they got from her HRC impersonation for two seasons. As I say, I dont think it will be regarded as overly partisan by most people, as much as a recognition of the long life of service by a dominating public figure over the last quarter century who has received more than her fair share of both blame and praise. I have not finished watching the entire episode yet, but I thought the first two acts were impeccable and well-timed.
