A long time ago, before most of the (ongoing?) renovations to the classic rail terminal there, I'd traveled to "transit fairs" put on by the statewide authority, chock-a-block with rail-related merchandise and *tchotchkes*, current and vintage cars to tour, in some cases free rides on trains, and food...
An inbound upstate train (without, of course, the auto-braking system that Federal authorities can't get installed) crashed through a terminal block and across the station concourse nearly into the waiting room between 8.30 and 9 east this morning; over 100 injured, still only one known death... pick your favorite NY site, it'll be there...
