It's a new trend: i remember NBC showing "Another World" during the Atlanta Olympics in 96, while CBC was showing the women's team gymnastics final live, back when i had of of those big dishes. They are down to one now: they didn't preempt "Santa Barbara" during Seoul or Barcelona, and ABC did keep their soaps on during LA in 84, but they were shorter duration than usual.
