A couple weeks ago I had an exchange on social media with a "pundit" who
appears on several shows across many of the networks, speaking about the
candidates and the primaries. She had posted a Tweet the day before one of
the debates about how she wasn't looking forward to having to watch another
one. I told her she didn't have to, which is when she told me she appears
on shows to talk about them. I told her you couldn't pay me enough to do
that, which is when she said she doesn't get paid.

Looking into it, most on those panel shows do it for the self-promotion
(talk shows sometimes offer a small "stipend"). These people go on TV and
talk-radio for free and make asses of themselves, and I'm guessing -- like
the woman I spoke with -- many can barely stomach doing it, but they have
to keep their names "out there" in the media zeitgeist.

There but for the grace of God...
