Yeah, we're totally into subjective impressions here.  A big, brassy theme
usually means the announcer has to really sell the announce, and neither
Stephen nor whomever took over do this.  It might be a stylistic choice that I
don't mind and others do (Memo to British Jimmy, less with the shouty bits,
please).  Same with the longer wordless section between the guest listing and
the tag at the end.

It's also not played at the top of the show, which is unique among the current
crop.  I'm probably responding to these differences as much as to any intrinsic
merit to the tune.  Bottom line, I'll be humming this tune to myself throughout
the day, and aside from Johnny's and Dave's Late Night themes, that doesn't
happen to me.

If there is to be an announce over the theme, I don't think the song should
be too high energy, and repetitive probably helps.  I find this to be higher
energy than the current Late Night theme,

I would disagree (incoming alphabet soup)...

The Colbert theme pales next to most of these. At 11:30, wouldn't you want a
big, brassy
bright theme to wake the audience up and say "Hey! Look at this!"

CraigyFerg seems to have broken the mold(?) with a loud/energetic theme at
12:30...

I 100% concede that it's subjective andcould very well come down to band size
or
 some other factor.
