A couple of things.
They are playing a slightly faster version of the open - something they started
doing by the end of September.
It's interesting (at least to me) that they shifted the order of elements (such
as the elevated train coming before the football field) a great deal between
this longer version and the one used now.

If there is to be an announce over the theme, I don't think the song should be
too high energy, and repetitive probably helps.  I find this to be higher
energy than the current Late Night theme, and clearly it's not as energetic as
the themes performed by the larger ensembles.  The Roots, The Basic Cable Band,
and Cletus and the Cletones are all larger than JB and Stay Human, which is
about the same size as 8H and a little larger than Reggie Watts and Karen.
Of course, Your Mileage Certainly Varies.  I could see the case being made for
the studio-produced (as opposed to live) renditions of late show themes as
higher energy.
Me - I like it when the host sings the
theme.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I1WMLTpp0Q

I am struck but how repetitive and low-energy this theme is. I'm not a fan
of LSwSC but not because of any large, glaring issues. Just lots of little
ones that kind of "pile up."
