Unless Riverside isn't part of the Southland media markets, there is a
'local' connection, since the shooter grew up in Sandy Eggo and/or its
burbs and later lived and/or went to college in the Riverside area. So
I think there's a more valid reason for them to do a local angle on
the story (even sending a crew to Denver), than if a former intern's
cousin's boyfriend knew someone who saw "The Dark Night Rises" in a
theater just down the street from the Century 16 and that was the
hook.
