Let me suggest sticking to web standard design practices and try to be browser agnostic. Pootle could deliver a light weight, fast loading web pages that are not demanding on resources: Internet connectivity, fast hardware or minimum screen resolution. And do progressive enhancement when possible using more modern CSS3 elements such media queries. Such a web design can be easily displayed on older browsers and also support newer mobile computing devices as well. Working on few pootle mock-ups for mobile-first design, will share them when they are ready.
