I have an Acer Timeline 5810 TZ laptop with default/on-board sound card. It came out of the upgrade with the sound card hardware not being identified by the sound settings control app. There was the report of the card being identified on boot-up in dmesg, but no errors or further information was found. lspci would show the card when booted. I was able to clear it up after taking these steps, so I'm not sure if all are necessary. I deleted ~/.pulse (on its own this did not resolve the problem). The I rebooted. Then I did a reinstall of packages: alsa-base, alsa-utils, esound-common, pulseaudio and pulseaudio-utils. After another reboot then the sound card showed up.
