Actually, regardless of whether we land Mir fixes for bug 1524145 and bug 1522295, the Unity8 mouse speed is still going to be unusable.
Right now (Mir 0.17 installed on xenial) you're getting 1:1 device kernel motion data. So Unity8 should be able to deal with that much better than it is and not require such a huge effort to move the mouse around. So this is entirely a Unity8 bug. Unity8 should ensure as a sane default that it is moving the cursor by about 1px when the motion event gives a dx==1. But right now it seems to be a long way from that. Other Mir shells don't have a problem. ** Changed in: mir Status: Opinion => Invalid ** Changed in: mir Milestone: 0.18.0 => None ** Changed in: mir (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Also affects: qtmir Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: qtmir Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: qtmir Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mir in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1517133 Title: [regression] Mouse speed in Unity8 is much lower than elsewhere (to the point of useless) Status in Mir: Invalid Status in QtMir: Confirmed Status in mir package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in qtmir package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Running unity8 as a session on the desktop. The mouse is so "slow" (i.e a movement in reality moves it very few pixels on screen) that i can't really use it since i need to lift it and restart the movement a few times if i want to go to the other side of the screen.
