There are scripts to build ToriOS from the Ubuntu mini.iso. So an alternative might be to supply that method (instead of supplying an iso file). This would be a method, that should be free from conflicts with Ubuntu's intellectual property (or at least rather easy to make free).

Right. I recall now. It can be found here. https://github.com/Israel-/ISOmaker

So ToriOS is built from the Ubuntu mini.iso without modification using the operation system's source list that builds it? So we're distributing a specialized Ubuntu mini.iso? Hm. As it stands, this would probably conflict with the Ubuntu IP. But maybe we can modify the source files of Ubuntu mini.iso to remove Ubuntu branding.

Here's an example of Ubuntu source that we'd need for auditing:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/ubuntu/ubuntu-precise.git/tree/

So what we're saying is that we do not have a source yet? Perhaps we start a project to fork our own source from the Ubuntu mini.iso. Where would that source be?
