Audacious might be going to Qt... but for now they are going back to GTK2 http://www.webupd8.org/2014/06/audacious-going-back-to-gtk2-starting.html
I agree that Gnome is breaking compatibility with each new GTK release. GTK4 is coming and not everything has been ported to GTK3. There are a lot of things developers are doing in the GNU/Linux sphere that are making users and developers uneasy... however we still need a GTK theme for GTK apps. The default 'no theme' looks like Windows 3.1. I have been testing JWM, and it was a glaring defect I noticed. There is a library that themes Qt apps to use the same theme as GTK apps (more or less). So choosing a GTK theme to use is a reasonable choice. XFCE is GTK2, LXDE is GTK2 (until LXQt becomes the standard), Gnome is GTK+ Ubuntu is still GTK (for now). Many apps use the Gimp ToolKit. My settings app is FLTK, it uses neither, and will look the same on any DE (unless the global FLTK settings are changed). Qt is nice, and can be lightweight (Qupzilla is an amazingly fast browser even on old machines.. which is something we might consider using)... but we still need GTK apps to look decent either way. -- Regards -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~torios Post to : torios@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~torios More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
