I experimented with elevated loops for low noise reception , all quite low tot he ground. BNut even 3-feet in elevation decreased thee S.N significantly. Of course that is here on the west coast of Florida with my soil conductivity.

What did work very well was a 30-foot by 30-foot square loop right on the grass. It is corner fed but it's omnidirectional  (regardless of what some models predict) and it works very well at 10 MHz and down. It's held down with lawn staples and after a week it disappears into the grass and mowing on top of it is no problem.

The loop on the ground LoG might be worth a quick test. It's so dead easy to lay out.

I also phase that LoG against other antennas for further noise reduction. Linrad works best for that but manual and a passive phaser works too.
