nm, figured out what was stopping it .. combo of testing qscanq and not uninstalling their wrapper and also wrong perms on /var/qmail/simscan/ directory.
Seems to work now, just have to wait on reports from users on spam marking but I do see it stopping viruses at SMTP level finally .. excellent, no more cleaning up /var/spool/qmailscan/ and hopefully not as much runaway resource events when the spammers come in too quickly :)
