We're having a bit of difficulty configuring MacOS X to send mail with the courier IMAP setup. We have tried Eudora 6.1 and Mac Mail and can't get SMTP Auth to work. We tried using '@' and '%' to no avail. Otherwise
Using smtp auth or roaming support?
Try using thunderbird email client. Anyway, auth is not using imap. Authetication is done using smtp.
