Yes, I have setup the ceritficate with make cert. It belongs to vpopmail.qmail.
This is not a valid test, and should fail.

What is in your smtpd logs? If all the above fails, I'd try strace to see what is causing the error.
There is not any error message in the log files. I don't have any problem using the SSL with the previous version of toaster.
