Gaaah! I just freaked myself out by trying it again and discovering that it
works absolutely
fine! I guess I must have done something wrong when I tested previously. Sorry

Final quirk: I'm not seeing any altered behaviour when I hold down the shift,
meta, or alt
keys: from what I see in the code, aren't they supposed to alter the scroll
rate?
