Maybe I misunderstood what you wanted... "refresh-client" simply redraws the screen; but maybe you wanted to reset a pane's state to it's initial settings, (like running the command-line "reset" command; also, screen's C-a r doesn't do a reset or a refresh, it toggles screen's linewrap settings). If you want "reset"-command like behavior, screen uses C-a Z for that. I don't actually know of a way to do it in tmux, though. If you can find out the tty file for that pane, then you could issue the shell command (perhaps via tmux's "run-shell" command): tmux -Tscreen reset > /dev/pts/FOO -- Micah J.
