3GPP makes use of both TLS and DTLS across several interfaces, as part of its security architecture. For a detailed overview of cryptographic inventory in 3GPP, please refer to recent study at https://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Email_Discussions/SA3/SA3%23121/draft_S3-251710-r2-Draft%20TR%2033938-020.docx .
It's not just 3GPP; other SDOs, such as GSMA, also depend on IETF RFCs. For example, the recent liaison statement from GSMA highlights the importance of the RFC timeline for the PQ/T key agreement draft to be used as a normative reference. -Tiru On Sat, 17 May 2025 at 17:52, Salz, Rich <rsalz=40akamai....@dmarc.ietf.org> wrote: > So far we’ve heard that 3GPP is considering using this (presumably for > thinks like station-to-station, as it were), but they need a stable > reference like an RFC.
