Hey all:

I'm happy to report that the show on Saturday 4/10 at
the Big Easy was rockin! Let's see if I can remember
what they played:

Get me with Fuji (opener)

Acoustic vocal tune I didn't recognize.

So Dope -- awesome to hear this one. Sounded
polished, too!

Sometimes True to Nothing

Poor Boy

Awesome newer tune written by Andrew -- had a little
reggae flavor to it, and featured great guest
trumpeter whose name escapes me.

Rhythm-a-ning

Children of December

Encore was an awesome version of Happiness is a Warm
Gun. I think there was a quote of the Star Spangled
Banner at some point -- a friend wondered if the
linking of these two songs was a political statement.

I might have missed one or two, but I think that's it!

In any event, this was a rockin show with great
singing, no hesitation, and seriously great soloing by
brad (not that we expect anything less). They
performed with ease and looked to be enjoying it a
lot!

Of note: I knew that they'd been experimenting with
more and more looping in the last year or two. I like
it -- they are so tasteful in applying it and so
seamless in using it live (without headphones or any
hang-ups). But I'm not sure I've seen Marc play the
guitar as much as he did during this show -- and play
it well he did! There were at least two tunes
(including the new reggae-ish one) where Marc was
playing a six-string, and was using on stage pedals to
rock the bass. Intense.

Also of note: After the first tune, Brad announced
that he felt like he owed the crowd an apology. He
mentioned, with a wry smile, that they'd been a band
for almost ten years and this was only the fourth time
they'd played Maine (I think the other most recent
times were Nov 2001 at Colby and Spring 2003 at the
State (opening for Vida Blue). He earnestly promised
that they'd be back more often in the future. The
crowd was happy to hear that and was very receptive to
the show, in general!

We're ready for more anytime!! Yee-a!

So great to have these guys up here in our home city!

Really glad I missed Easter at home to catch this
one!!

Marcus
