Generally speaking, you do a "reply" or "reply to author" to respond to an
individual.  To reply to the list, your use "reply to all".  

The actual syntax will depend on your mail client but when replying to the
list, don't forget to remove the original author from the addresses, otherwise
(s)he gets the message twice, once directly from you and once from the list.
