I could make it always use the minimum amount of spaces depending on the
total number of online CPUs, that is machines with less than 10 online
cores only ever use one space and less than 1000 would use two spaces.

Three spaces aren't too much and make the percentage counters always
stay where they are no matter the machine; given the reduced complexity
of the code, this seems more worth it than saving one or two spaces.
