Really depends on what you want.

Where do you want to stream to? Television? web? or just to one service
provider, who distributes it?
What quality do yo want, which equipment do you have? How much effort
(time, money) do you want to spend in advance and during streaming?

Blackmagic's video capture cards are compatible to linux, they support
hdmi and sdi as input and output (programmable). Processing can be done
with various programs, e.g. vlc is a great tool for these things.
