I pretty much always set:

UseDNS no

in /etc/ssh/sshd_config

down I will get a 120second time out during startup. I found this out
when we first started using ssh years ago and I had the startup script
in the wrong order (it started before TCP started) once I moved it in
the start order I resolved that but I see it from time to time during
outages.

I am going to try and speed up the moving of onsite DNS and hopefully
that will help a bit.
