Derek, Thanks for that reply. I know the sshd on the server does a DNS call when it starts because if I have to restart a server and the netowrk is down I will get a 120second time out during startup. I found this out when we first started using ssh years ago and I had the startup script in the wrong order (it started before TCP started) once I moved it in the start order I resolved that but I see it from time to time during outages.
