Last I checked, micro instances weren't really provisioned for even a bare
bones Apache httpd. nginx, maybe.

In any case, what you and apparently others in this thread are missing:

IT'S A ***MICRO*** INSTANCE.
This does not mean "cheaper normal instance". It means "massively
underprovisioned instance".

If you are surprised that it sucks a lot, you need to think about whether
you even understand what a micro instance is, and whether it is at all
appropriate for your use --- not assume that AWS's definition is required
to be the same as yours.
