I'm looking for an application that will allow me to track some projects that

I don't need anything like Gantt charts, but like the collaboration, if they
are there so be it. I just don't want them to be in the way.

I just need something simple that allows me to lay out my goals, milestones,
and progress. Free is preferred, but I don't mind paying a small fee if
necessary.

Can anyone make a recommendation? I know there are several project management
options out there, but not having experience with them makes it a bit
difficult to determine which is right for what I need. I figured I'd ask to
see if I can whittle the list down a bit before jumping in on some evaluations.

I have just started to use taskcoach as a replacement for my plain old text file todo lists. It is a bit heavier than what I need, but I have managed to bend it to an GTD/Eisenower time management system by limiting myself to 3 priority levels. I don't do any tracking (yet), but it seems that it would be very easy to use it for that.
