I admit that I'm a Unix/Linux kind of guy, so I could use some help here.

I have a WinXP system that only get used to deal with my iPhone that I am trying to upgrade the hard drive in. The box (mini-ITX) only has room for a single notebook drive, but I can connect 2 drives with the cover off. I am trying to migrate from a 100GB drive to a 1TB drive and I've had problems with everything I have tried.

The main issue that I seem to be having is that th 1TB drive uses larger physical sectors (probably 4K) and Linux fdisk refuses to create partitions with a starting sector less than 2048 instead of the old standard of 63 that the 100GB drive has.

I suucessfully used Clonezilla to copy from the smaller to the larger, but I haven't been able to increase the partition size or move the starting sector.

I have tried to use Parted Magic on the Ultimate Boot CD, but the X interface doesn't support my USB mouse. Dropping to a text console, I can run Clonezilla, but I can't relocate or resize the partition from there.

Following instructions I found online to migrate using some of the EASUS tools also fails completely, I've never gotten o bootable system.

I really don't want to do a reinstall and try to migrate things over, there's just too much magic involved in Windows software for me to have any confidence.

Suggestions? Dumping my iPhone and going to Android isn't practical yet.

It's not what I know that counts.
It's what I can remember in time to use.
