I have a datacenter full of Dell equipment I need to monitor. While the
higher level monitoring is (sort of) taken care of, the low level
monitoring isn't. So I'm looking for tools (Open Source preferred but not
required) that will do low level monitoring via IPMI and/or iDRAC
interfaces and report hardware issues back to me. Bonus if it will also
monitor Force 10 switches and EqualLogic disk arrays.
Yes, I'm working in a Dell shop. Some of the equipment is not admined by
me, I just deal with the hardware, so I need to be able to run agentless
and without an account on the box. I really need to automate the
monitoring so that I can get a status report every morning.
The scale is that I have several hundred physical systems, not several
thousand.
There is also a possibility that we may be replacing our current high
level monitoring system with something else. Suggestions there would be
good as well. VMware, Windows and multiple versions of Linux. This will
probably total thousands of systems when the VMs are included. Agents are
acceptable for this.

It's not what I know that counts.
It's what I can remember in time to use.
