Depends on what you want to accomplish. We've had very good luck running ESXi as a server to host guests. Main pain there is that you need a Windoze box to run the Vsphere client to manage the server. Some things can be done via ssh console once you turn it on.
VitrualBox is fantastic as a desktop VM host for experimenting, etc. As others have mentioned, Xen and KVM are also out there, but I have no experience with them. -Pete On May 19, 2012, at 11:11 AM, Andrew Hume wrote: > any recommendations for/against any particular flavour of VM? > i will most likely be running RHEL6 inside them, but may be not. > > ------------------ > Andrew Hume (best -> Telework) +1 623-551-2845 > and...@research.att.com (Work) +1 973-236-2014 > AT&T Labs - Research; member of USENIX and LOPSA > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Tech mailing list > Tech@lists.lopsa.org > https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech > This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators > http://lopsa.org/
