Hi all,
We have a group here that has acquired an InfiniBand switch (a Voltaire
[now Mellanox] Grid Director 4036E to be specific) and the requisite HCA
cards (Mellanox ConnectX-2 dual-port QSFP) and cables. The problem is,
they don't know how to configure InfiniBand, and have pushed this down
to our IT group, and we don't have any prior knowledge either... We have
taken our shot at configuring the switch, and have installed the HCAs in
the servers (which run Ubuntu 10.04 Server) and then cabled the servers
up to the switch, but no lights are a-blinkin', and the "cable-config
show" command on the switch shows "Not present" as the status for all
ports, even the ones with the cables in them... And then there's the
problem of getting the correct drivers installed in Ubuntu, which
Mellanox does not seem to support.
Anyone out there interested in a possible consulting gig to get our IB
environment put together and running? If so, pls let me know, and
indicate rate info (respond directly to me, not list of course...)
