I wouldn't use them for production, but my understanding is that used
10G infiniband have an ebay value of under $200 each.  10G infiniband
switches also show up pretty cheap.

I'd be interested in your results, if you go through with it.  I've 
considered doing the same myself, but I have been burnt before by 
going "enterprise" when I couldn't afford the support contract, so 
for now I'm sticking with 1g Ethernet... 10g infiniband is a lot 
faster and a lot cheaper than 10G Ethernet.
